Andy Griffith grew up here and incorporated names of places and people from Mount Airy on “The Andy Griffith Show.” The Mount Airy Visitors Center is home to the Andy Griffith Museum, the largest collection of Andy memorabilia in the world, and admission is free! Mount Airy hosts “Mayberry Days” the last weekend in September annually. Mount Airy has Floyd’s City Barber Shop, Snappy Lunch, the Andy Griffith Playhouse, Andy’s Homeplace, Aunt Bee’s Room and Wally’s Service Station.
